Mark and Will were guests at another wedding I photographed – that of Ramsay and James at Jesus College, Cambridge. They liked what they saw of us at work and got in touch with a typically humorous and deprecating opening email – not surprisingly my studio manager, Louise, developed a complete soft spot for them.
Mark and Will met at Jesus College themselves and fell in love while serving on the May Ball committee together. That experience of organising a mega-event certainly held them in good stead when it came to the most important event of their lives: their wedding had a really classy, vintage, glamorous style. But as always it’s the personal ambience around couple which lingers in my mind – in the morning Mark and Will got ready together with their wedding party and I really enjoyed the relaxed and joyful vibe as everyone reminisced.
The day was not without problems from a photographer’s perspective, as it was raining heavily and that affected our plans and logistics. But what made everything work was that Mark and Will trusted me – enough to sneak out of their wedding breakfast for 20 minutes to take the photos when I knew the light was at its most beautiful. I hope I’ve captured this stylish couple’s charm and warmth.
