Wedding: Dorchester Hotel, Penthouse and Pavilion, London – Sarah & Simon

If I were to do my own wedding differently to how we did it, this is what I’d pick. Sarah and Simon got married at the Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane in London 3 days after Holly and I tied the knot in Cambridge.

Normally I’d have run a mile at photographing a wedding so soon after my own (I should have been on a sunny beach!) but after meeting Sarah and Simon, hearing all their crazy plans and just getting on so well, I couldn’t say no.

The morning started with me photographing Sarah in her suite at the Dorchester (she even had her own butler) while Tom (my trusty second photographer) covered Simon at their house in Westminster. Before I get to that though, here’s one from later in the day on the balcony of the Penthouse and Pavilion at the Dorchester.

Wedding: George and Emily – The Grove and Regency Banqueting Suites, London

Wow, I’m still recovering after my first wedding of the year yesterday; the very Greek affair of Emily and George. We started the day getting ready at the Grove Hotel in London then headed on to the Regency Banqueting suites for the ceremony/reception.

Regular readers might remember George and Emily from their engagement session when they came up to Bristol late last year or from Jon and Elaine’s wedding where Emily was one of the fab bridesmaids…

Sorry to say I’m going to start not quite at the beginning of this epic Greek wedding. This first one is of Emily in the revolving door at the Grove, just about to head off to her wedding. I just loved the colours and symmetry in this (note to all the photographers out there: Yes I shot it in tungsten white balance in order to turn the ambient blue…)

So after that it’s back to the beginning, hit the jump to see more…

London: Fourth Plinth – One & Other

So it’s finally started. The fourth plinth project called “One & Other” today quite literally got off the ground with members of the public taking to the air for their one hour slot. For those of you who don’t know Holly is working like an eager beaver on the project so I thought I’d pop along and see what it’s all about.

Had a fab time, it’s the most interactive piece of art I’ve seen. Hey I even got thrown a chocolate bar from a plinthian 6 metres up. If you’re interested you can sign up to take up your place on the plinth at the one and other website here and you can read Holly’s blog here. If you’re passing through London anytime soon, I suggest you swing by Trafalgar square and support whoever’s currently up.

Chocolate rains down all around…

GeekFest: LLX Lighting

So yes I promised I’d do a post going into a bit more detail about how to light the 200 odd people of the London Lindy Exchange. Dancing fast. In a large (70x40ft) hall. With only three speedlights…

If you’re not a camera nerd I suggest you leave this post alone. Otherwise find out after the jump…

Dance: London Lindy Exchange 2009

Filed under Uncategorized Tags: , — • Written by Alex @ 9:22 pm on .

So, this past weekend was the London Lindy Exchange. It’s a really cool event where Swing dancers from around the world get together to share a drink, dance and their sofa with any other dancer in need of a place to crash. It’s full of live bands, awesome DJs, a fab hall (Old Finsbury Town Hall) and (well at least when the Cambridge guys are around), lots and lots of CAKE! Anyway, muggins here was invited along as ‘official’ photographer (hell I’d have gone along anyway just to dance (well, and eat cake) and would I  have ever been able to forgive myself if I left my camera at home for such a great event??)

Photos are up in the client section of CrookedRoad with the password llx09. Feel free to check out the entire set. I’ll get the photo CDs, for those who bought them, off in the post later this week along with a geeky “how I lit it” blog entry.

MC and Art

So Friday saw me shooting the lovely MC and Art. Both were over from the US after winning the fittest24, fittest body of 2008 competition.

The Prize? Well that was an all expenses payed trip to London and a photoshoot with three pro photographers, including, yours truly. The majority of the shoot was dedicated to the fitness theme but here’s a few of the more traditional ones:
