So for those of you that haven’t heard before, I’m organising a big photo pow wow/shootout for the 25th of April. The location is a derelict RAF base just North of Cambridge. The base is huge with plenty of space for us all to work and create some really unique photos. Just to whet your appetite, here’s one I took at the location before:

Commercial: A long weekend

So I spent this weekend out with one of my commercial customers on a big shoot. Can’t say that much about it yet or post many images but I did get permission to put this one up quickly. Rest assured more from this shoot (both trials and triumphs) will be coming in the following weeks, oh and sorry to all those whose emails I’ve been a touch slow answering!

More adventures soon,
Alex :D

Location, Location, Location

So some of you might know I’m always on the scout for a new location. My current search entails finding somewhere close in proximity to Cambridge, interesting looking and able to supply multiple different backdrops for upto 10 photographers and models. The reason? Well I’m planning a big photoshoot for later in the year where photographers, models and makeup artists of all standards can come together. The hope is everybody will have a great day, get some awesome portfolio shots and hopefully learn something from everybody else there. I might even throw in a little lighting seminar myself and try to convince some of the other more experienced photographers to teach something.

Anyway, I digress. Tonight I think I might have found the perfect location. It’s a derelict airbase which has lain empty for the past 15 years. It’s a massive complex with so many different locations, it’s almost unbelievable. Now the only challenge left is to get permission to take a group that big and, well, organize the group!
Here’s a sneak peek at the base…

Exploration: An old ruin

So, a friend of a friend tipped us off earlier in the week about an old ruined house in the outskirts of Cambridge. Never being one to pass up an adventure we loaded up the car with cameras, lights and a few friends and went to explore. We really weren’t disappointed: the walk up alone was fantastic, 3/4 of a mile up a long overgrown track. Shrubs which had once lined a majestic driveway had now turned into tall,  gangly trees, an old woodstack was completely engulfed by moss and at the end we came upon the shell of a once magnificent manor house. The imposing chimney breasts remain as do some of the walls, but the majority of the house is overgrown with trees.

You’re definitely going to see more pictures of this in the future when I get the chance to go back with some models but here’s one of an old cooker to keep you going.
