Engagement: Cambridge Derelict RAF base – Steph and Nick

Filed under Uncategorized Tags: , , , , , , , — • Written by Alex @ 2:37 am on August 3, 2011.

I don’t quite know what to say about these. Sometimes the planets align just right and you get an absolutely amazing photoshoot. This was one of those times.

Steph and Nick flew in from Hong Kong for their engagement shoot. We’d chatted about it a bit in advance and I pitched the idea of taking them to an old abandoned RAF base. I’ve been there a few times before for various photoshoots, but never with a couple. Steph and Nick agreed to my crazy idea and I picked them up off the train on a sunny Sunday afternoon to begin the shoot…

Trust me, you really want to see the rest of the photos. Either click on the photo above or hit the link below to see them…

Engagement: Clifton, Bristol – Lydia and Gareth

Just a quick one from yesterdays enagegment session with Lydia and Gareth. After our last failed meeting in December (during the horrible snow storms) Lydia and Gareth drove up from Brighton to my office in Clifton for a sunny day out. After some time chatting, looking through wedding albums and hearing all about their crazy wedding plans we decided to head out to Ashton Court estate. We did go via the famous “Clifton Death Slide” along the way but more on that later.

Here’s one from Ashton Court…

More photo and adventures coming soon (including some at a derelict RAF base…)

Engagement: Jennie and James – Wandlebury, Cambridge.

Sun, Sun, Sun! Day’s are getting longer, clocks have gone forwards and plants are finally starting to flower. One could almost believe summer is on the way and summer is the one time of year that it’s great to be in England.

Well due to it actually being a nice day Jennie, James, Holly and I decided to head to the picturesque Wandlebury for Jennie and James’ engagement shoot this weekend. Was really nice to get outside and and have some fun in the sun. Props to Holly for being a Human Light Stand for me and to Jennie and James for laughing at my bad jokes.

Anyway, enough of my twittering, on to the photos!

More photos after the jump.

Peak District: Rob and Rebecca

So, “Get to the Peak District.” That was the first instruction given to me by fellow photographer Mr Chris Beaumont on Saturday. Following that came; “Get to Heathersage, then drive out of Heathersage, turn left at the Flying Dog pub, go over the hill, far away, over a cattle grid, cross the palm of the helpful sheep then look for the short haired guy standing on a rock.” Useful.

Anyway Chris and I then hooked up with Sue Mossey for our first photographers’ shoot out. The idea was simple: Chris had a couple of friends who got married a year ago and were looking for some awesome post-wedding photos. Since Chris and I are always bantering about who’s the better photographer we decided to make a trip out of it (well and I love being chastised by a chubby man after 3 hours in the car for driving a Citroen…)

This being England I was planning for rain but it actually ended up being one of the hottest days of the year. Did manage to find some shade though under Burbage Bridge.

Becky also brough her fab wedding dress along with her. Really awesome to be able to bring out the dress and show it off up on the mountainside!

Video – Catherine and Matthew

So I quickly put together a video of Catherine and Matthews engagement session from the last weekend. This is the first video I’ve made from still images but I think it’s quite effective and I’m going to try it again in the future. Let me know what you all think!

E-Session – Matthew and Catherine – Cambridge

So Saturday saw my first E-Session of the season, the lovely Matthew and Catherine. The premise of the shoot was the fact that they’re really big kids at heart, so where do kids head? The park of course! These guys are real jokers, I spent the entirety of the first part of the session desperately trying to hold back laughter and hold the camera straight. After lots of fun we headed into Cambridge for something a bit more serious and finished off on the Bridge of Sighs (well Matt and Cat on the bridge, me on an adjacent one) at St Johns college.
