Wedding: Catherine and Rob – Beaumont Hall, Leicester

A very white wedding. So far this year I’ve had lots of rain, and a little bit of sunshine at my weddings. I guess that left one weather condition out which was determined to make an appearance. Yep on Saturday for Rob and Catherine’s wedding it decided to snow. As I’m sure you’re all aware the whole week has been filled with snow, however we woke up in the morning to sun and blue skys. Kinda fortunate really since I was starting to get worried about the hour and a half drive I was going to have to make in the morning to make it for the wedding.

Well yes anyway, the weather was superb for the majority of the day, if a touch cold. Rob and Catherine got married at St Thomas More church in Leicester just a few minutes drive from Catherine’s parents’ house. It was a really beautiful ceremony for a really lovely couple (well as loverly as lawyers can get ;) )

I’m still sorting my way through the photos so you can rest assured there are a lot more to come but I just had to put this one up. Just as I was wrapping up for the evening we got the snow we had all

been hoping for. With a bit of lighting magic to turn on the outside light (yes it had no light bulb in it so I had to do it myself…) we managed to grab this. Enjoy!A snowy wedding at Beaumont Hall Leicester

Stay tuned, I’ll be updating this blog post with more photos as they come in.

Cambridge: Snowtime!

Filed under Uncategorized • Written by Alex @ 6:50 pm on .

It’s snowing! Yes as all my friends will tell you, I turn into a little boy in the snow. I love it, I always have and perhaps that’s why I enjoyed my time living in Boulder so much. Anyway in between snowball fights and building Doris the snow-woman at 3am, I took a quick trip out with the camera.

I always find it amazing how different everything looks with a little coat of snow. Hell, even the most hideous ’60′s architecture becomes bearable! Anyway here’s a few shots of Cambridge in the snow.

Wedding this weekend in Leicester; let’s hope the snow lasts but doesn’t become so thick I can’t make it! Looking forward to seeing you both Rob and Catherine.

More adventures to come!

Cambridge: King’s College at Night

Filed under Uncategorized • Written by Alex @ 6:48 pm on .

So for those of you who don’t know, once a year, around Christmas time, the BBC descends on King’s College. The reason? Well it’s Christmas carol time and King’s happens to have one of the best choirs in the world.

This year they decided to cheat a bit and lit the entire outside. The reason was to give the impression of daylight while filming inside. Anyway, I happened to be driving past and it was quite a site to behold! Shame about all the scaffolding though :(

Mental note: Must try doing this myself sometime, how hard can it be to light an entire chapel?? (check out the last photo in this post.

Remember the Orc pictures way back in March (Part 1, Part 2)? Well Born of Hope, the film I was working on has just been released! Turns out one of the pictures I took of Arathorn was used in the main movie release poster. Check it out in this Danish newspaper!

More adventure to come.

Cambridge: Films, fairs, fun!

Busy week, lots happened. Took photos. I think that just about sums it up…

Okay, I guess I should explain a touch more. I started my week taking photographs for the upcoming short film “Grace” directed by David O’Neill and produced by Emily Blickhem. It’s being shot around Cambridge and tells the story of a young rollerskating girl feeding her father’s addiction. The script’s really interesting and judging by the little I saw it should be a great film. Can’t wait to see it when it comes out.

Holly had been needing some new photographs for a while so I continued the week by taking some photos of her. It was great fun to get her in front of the camera again, she definitely knows how to work it! So yes that was my 1am to 3am slot filled on Friday…

Finally I finished the week on a very sunny Mill Road with the Lindy Hoppers for Mill Road’s winter fair. Really great to see so many of the townsfolk turn out and it gave me a great opportunity to test another of the shiny new lenses I’ve been buying recently! Anyway without further ado, here’s a brief look at the photos.
