Wedding: Trinity College, Cambridge. Louise and Mark

So it was a weekend full of photographs for me. In total I pressed the shutter button 1608 times. Wow. It all started on Saturday in great style with the wedding of Louise and Mark at Trinity College. I actually shot it with another local wedding photographer, Jean-Luc Benazet. Check out his blog post on the wedding. Anyway, Trinity is an absolutely fantastic venue, it’s almost impossible to get a bad shot in the chapel. That said, it’s a bit of a cavern and there isn’t much light in there so you better have a modern camera with good high ISO performance!

I shot the entirety of the ceremony using the natural light. Those clever people who built the chapel designed it well, when the sun shines you get a lovely pool of light just in front of the alter. Unfortunately, this being England, the weather was a touch hit and miss and we rarely got the full effect. The other great thing is the organ nest, high above the main floor. I chose to dot around between floor and nest getting some great viewing angles.

After the ceremony I finally got the chance to have a proper chat with the lovely couple. And, well, yes, they’re fab. Had a great time running around with them avoiding the rain and getting some fun formals. I really love spending 20min with a couple after the formals and doing my best to make them into rock stars…

Well what do you do after all that? Simple, dinner, cake then off to the next photo assignment…

  1. Lovely photos. My (rather cheaper) Nikon didn’t do quite as well with the high ISO settings :( rather grainy. What did you do to louise’s veil?

  3. Very nice photos indeed.

My lowly Nikon D40 had a hard time as well.

  6. Hi Kat,
I actually used a flash directly behind Louise’s veil in order to light it and give it that blown out white look.
    Thanks,
    Alex
